What our gasket fitting covers
We fit replacement gaskets on commercial kitchen equipment where the existing seal has gone hard, split, flattened or pulled away from the frame. A poor seal wastes power, slows heat-up times and can leave water on the floor or steam escaping into the kitchen. On dishwashers, that can also mean poor wash pressure and more repeat cycles.
Our gasket fitting service covers full removal of the old seal, channel cleaning, fitment of the new gasket and a door closure check. We also inspect hinges, latches and the mating surface so the new gasket is not forced to work against a bent door or a loose catch. If the frame needs minor adjustment, we flag it before the new seal is damaged again.
- Oven door and chamber gaskets
- Dishwasher door and access panel seals
- Fryer lid and access seals where applicable
- Heat resistant silicone and rubber gasket types
- Compression and adhesive backed fitments
How we fit the seal, step by step
We start by identifying the exact appliance model and measuring the old seal profile, width and fixing method. Some seals use a push-in edge, others clip into a groove and some need bonded fitment. Getting that right matters, because a seal that is even a few millimetres off can leave a gap at the corner or bunch at the hinge side.
Once the correct part is confirmed, we remove the worn gasket, clean the channel and remove grease, detergent residue or baked-on dirt. Then we fit the new seal, check corner seating and test the door close. If needed, we carry out a simple latch or hinge adjustment so the door closes evenly all the way round.
- Model and serial confirmation
- Gasket profile and size check
- Old seal removal and surface prep
- New gasket fitment and corner alignment
- Door closure, leak and fit check
Typical turnaround from Midrand dispatch
For stocked gasket types, we can often dispatch from Midrand on the same or next working day once the part is identified and paid for. Fitment timing depends on where you are and whether the appliance is on site, in a prep area or in a back-of-house kitchen with limited access. In Johannesburg and Pretoria, onsite support is usually quicker for planned repairs. Coastal deliveries to Durban or Cape Town can take longer if the seal needs to be sourced to match an older machine.
When a gasket is urgently needed for a restaurant, hotel, school kitchen or food production site, tell us the appliance type, door size and any markings on the old seal. That helps us avoid sending the wrong profile and losing another service day.
- Standard stocked items: same day to 2 working days
- Special order seals: depends on model and profile
- Onsite fitting: scheduled by area and access
- Testing after fitment included on request
Pricing approach and what affects the quote
We price gasket fitting according to the seal type, appliance size, access conditions and whether the job is a simple swap or needs extra adjustment. A small undercounter dishwasher seal is not priced the same as a large oven door gasket, and a cracked hinge or warped frame can add labour time. We quote clearly before work starts so there are no surprises.
On some jobs, a gasket alone is not the full fix. If the door is dropping on one side, the catch is loose or the cabinet has shifted after cleaning or moving, we will point that out. Replacing the seal without sorting the cause just means another callout later. If you only need the part supplied, we can also handle part identification and dispatch without fitment.
- Part supply only or supply plus fitting
- Labour based on access and appliance type
- Extra time for hinge, latch or frame correction
- Clear quote before dispatch or site work
Maintenance intervals that keep the seal working
Most commercial gasket seals should be checked every 3 to 6 months, especially in busy kitchens where doors are opened all day and cleaned with hot water and chemicals. In coastal towns like Durban or in kitchens with heavy steam, seals can harden quicker because of humidity and repeated heat cycles. On dishwashers, detergent and rinse aid can also shorten the life of a poor quality seal.
Look for gaps at the corners, flattening on the closing edge, black mould, split rubber or a door that feels like it has to be slammed shut. If the door is no longer pulling in evenly, call for a check before the appliance starts losing heat or water. A simple inspection now usually costs less than running an underperforming unit for weeks.
- Check seals every 3 to 6 months
- Clean with mild detergent, not harsh scrubbers
- Replace at the first sign of cracking or flattening
- Inspect hinges and latches at the same time
Where we fit gaskets and how we support you
We support commercial kitchens nationally from Midrand, with coverage for Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town and Bloemfontein. That suits sites that need a seal fitted before a lunch rush, a delivery run or a compliance inspection. We also work around load-shedding schedules where possible, so testing can be done when power is available and the appliance can be run properly.
If you are running an oven that leaks heat, a fryer door that does not close flush, or a dishwasher that leaves water outside the unit, send the equipment details and a photo of the old seal. Our technical parts team can confirm compatibility before the job is booked. It saves time, reduces call-backs and gets the kitchen back into service faster.
- Midrand depot with national dispatch
- Onsite parts support for planned jobs
- Post-fit testing where access and power allow
- Compatibility checks before supply or fitting
